Why my homepage is an RFC

Abstract

A personal site doesn't need a design system. It needs to be readable.

Most personal sites try hard to look impressive. I wanted mine to be easy to read, quick to load and simple to keep up to date.

RFCs have been doing that for over fifty years. They use plain text, numbered sections and a table of contents, and they work on almost any device.

How it’s built

The site is built with Astro and ships no JavaScript to the browser. Posts are Markdown files in the repository, and I edit them through Decap CMS:

src/content/blog/why-my-homepage-is-an-rfc.md

That’s the whole stack. When something can be a plain page, it should be a plain page.
